Children's Ear Wax Removal in Aylesbury - Gentle Paediatric Microsuction

Longer, calmer appointments designed around children. We explain every step in words a child understands, let them hear the equipment before it goes near an ear, and stop the moment they ask.

  • 30-minute appointments
  • £85 fixed, one or both ears
  • Water-free technique
  • Free follow-up if needed

Quick answer

We remove ear wax for children aged 4 and over using paediatric microsuction, in 30-minute appointments at £85 for one or both ears. A parent stays in the room, the technique is water-free, and if your child cannot settle we stop and only charge the £40 consultation fee.

Signs Your Child May Have a Wax Blockage

Children rarely say "my ear is blocked". The signs are usually behavioural: turning the television up, asking "what?" more often, mishearing in a noisy room, tugging at one ear, or a teacher mentioning that they seem to be daydreaming. Wax is one of the few causes of childhood hearing difficulty that can be resolved in a single appointment.

  • Turning up the television or tablet volume
  • Frequent 'what?' or missed instructions
  • Tugging, rubbing or poking at one ear
  • Earache or a feeling of fullness
  • Speech sounding less clear than usual
  • A teacher raising concerns about listening

How We Adapt the Appointment for Children

A child's ear canal is narrower and more sensitive than an adult's, and the experience matters as much as the technique. We use smaller probes, lower suction pressure and short bursts with breaks in between, and we always start with the easier ear so your child knows what to expect before the harder side.

How to Prepare Your Child

  • • Use olive oil drops for three to five days beforehand so the wax lifts easily.
  • • Describe the suction as "a tiny vacuum cleaner for ears" rather than avoiding the topic.
  • • Book at a time of day when your child is usually settled, not straight after school.
  • • Bring headphones, a tablet or a favourite toy for distraction between bursts.
  • • Tell us in advance about autism, sensory sensitivity, ADHD or needle or clinic anxiety so we can plan the visit.
